Alfa Romeo MiTo
2009 (09) 1.4 16V Veloce Euro 4 3dr
During its 10-year history, the MiTo was made with both petrol and diesel engines, a manual or an automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive.
The Alfa Romeo MiTo isn't a large car, and was only ever made in a 3-door layout, so there's not going to be a massive amount of passenger room, though it is a practical supermini.
The Alfa Romeo MiTo was released in 2008 as a premium three-door hatchback with upmarket styling. It was Alfa Romeo's first supermini and shared a platform with the Fiat Grande Punto and Vauxhall Corsa. Minor updates were made in 2014 and 2016 to its exterior styling and technology to keep it relevant, but it was ultimately discontinued in 2018 before it could enter a new generation.
Despite the efficiency offered by the diesel powertrain, most customers choose the petrol models due to their lower cost.
Towards the end of production, the MiTo was available in a base model specification, as well as the Super, Speciale and Veloce variants. The top-spec Veloce was the most popular variant with its higher-powered engine, 18-inch alloy wheels, electric power steering, active suspension and red brake calipers.
Customers can find used MiTo models with dark tinted rear windows, sport pedals and a flat-bottomed leather steering wheel. There are also upgraded wheel designs, such as 17-inch darkened alloys and a carbon finish on the dashboard that provides a sporty appearance.
The MiTo is a small supermini, so there's not a lot of space in the back for passengers and it only has three doors. However, children can fit relatively comfortably and there are ISOFIX points to hold child seats securely. There's also a small boot that would accommodate a weekly shop for a small family.
In its 10 years of production, Alfa Romeo never offered the MiTo with a hybrid engine. The most efficient model available is the 1.3-litre diesel that produces 93bhp with an impressive fuel economy rating of up to 83mpg.
There were some automatic models made by Alfa Romeo, but they can be challenging to find among used examples. Most MiTo models came with a manual gearbox instead.
No, all MiTo models were built with standard front-wheel drive to keep the cost down and maximise fuel economy.
